Looking for a place to host your event?

By Jeff Zeitler on Friday, November 11th, 2022

We can help you with that. We rent out the entire taproom for $400 and you get 20 free drinks. Try to get that kind of deal at Olive Garden!

We’re more than glad to host your event here this holiday season and beyond. Holiday feasts, birthday parties, bridal showers, employee appreciation or team building- we’ve done them all. We’re even planning to close on Wednesdays starting in December in order to allow more time for private events. So email us at urbanforagewinery@gmail.com if you’ve been thinking of hosting something but weren’t sure where!

Also, d’ya want to know which taproom is celebrating it’s 5th anniversary this month? You guessed it! We are. So we’re doing a few special things in honor of our 5th Tappiversary. Some of those would include:

Music:

Slovczech – everyone’s favorite Czech and Slovak folk/punk fusion band is playing on our actual anniversary- November 19th at 7 PM. No cover charge, just come on in and be ready to be blown away. They are truly fantastic.

November 11: The Tom o’Bedlam. All original and unique and based on ancient poem by an unknown author. Intriguing! 7 PM.

December 2: Lisa D performs all original vocal and guitar work. See a talented local artist who has already successfully played Urban Forage twice. 7 PM

December 9 and 30: Pete Hofmann. Solo guitar. Old standards and new instrumental compositions from South American masters. 7 PM both nights

Events:

How better to celebrate a 5-year-old taproom than with four years of wine? We’re bringing out the old stuff and the new stuff for a wine and cheese tasting event we’re calling:

Four Years of Frontenac. Sample our Frontenac from 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. Each is distinctly different, and is paired with a cheese which complements its flavor. $25 per person and held on two Fridays- November 25th and December 16th. Festive and a wee bit decadent for everyone over 21 years of age.

-also-

Learn how to make your own soap. Join John Hanson, Owner/Maker of Longfellow Soap Company, in a two hour class to learn how to make soap using the cold process method that has existed for thousands of years. $50. Includes a flight of wine and a soap mold you can keep! November 18 and February 11.

Trivia (of course)

November 17: Gilmore Girls

November 23: Wednesday trivia: Friends (on Friendsgiving!)

November 24: Thanksgiving- no trivia- closed for the day

December 1: Harry Potter

New things in bottles:

Cran-orange melomel came back last week and remains in stock. Last year’s hit for Thanksgiving will hopefully last until Thanksgiving this year!

Cherry Wine will make its debut on Black Friday this year! It’s going to be expensive, but when you taste it (and hear what it took to make this small batch) you’ll understand why. Gorgeous color, super seductive flavor. Get a free taste on November 25th and try to resist buying it.

Apricot melomel makes its debut on the first Friday of December, and yes, it’s really made from local apricots! They’re not easy to find, but when we do- oh man- combined with Minnesota honey- this is warm and smooth wrapped up in a silk scarf and bottled. You’ll be unable to resist. Free samples on December 2nd.

And there are a few things that you loved that are almost gone:

Herbed cider in bottles is out of stock. It was a hot seller this fall and we have one keg left. We’ll be putting it on tap soon and letting you take growlers home if you like.

Raspberry cider– the first thing in years to outsell blackcurrant cider! Bottles are running low and we haven’t made a new batch yet.

Peach wine– almost gone. Ask at the bar if you don’t see bottles on display. We may have saved a few in the back room.

That’s a lot of stuff, and I haven’t even begun with the new item we’re bringing out in December- it’s so unlike everything we’ve made before, you may be a bit shocked! See our next newsletter to find out why.

Cheers.

Jeff and Gita Z.
