Our cider is green! Open for St. Pat’s day 2-6 PM

By Jeff Zeitler on Wednesday, March 16th, 2016

No it’s not literally green, as in a product with FD&C food coloring added. It’s green in the sense that we made it sustainably, without chemicals, or with just the bare minimum to keep it fresh when we bottle it. And now- we are selling it on Saint Patrick’s Day!  As you may know- cider, […]

By Jeff Zeitler on Thursday, February 25th, 2016

Hi to everyone, especially to those who backed us at the CSA level during our kickstarter campaign.  There are almost 100 of you, so it took us a bit of time to have the inventory and the level of organization to be able to fulfill the terms of the CSA- which include a bottle of […]

Our ciders– naturally gluten-free

Cider Bottles

By Jeff Zeitler on Sunday, January 31st, 2016

We’ve been heartened and slightly surprised by the demand for our semisweet cider and cherry apple cider in the last couple of days.  We’re glad the neighborhood has embraced us to the degree that it has, and hope to be good neighbors in return! We had a great night out at a new(ish) Seward restaurant […]

We are good to go! Production starts December 17th, and we expect to have a product to sell within a few weeks! I’ll post more details here when we have them. For now- I’ll just say that we’re clear to make wine, cider and mead and sell it on site!

Shout out in the latest Longfellow Nokomis Messenger

By Jeff Zeitler on Sunday, November 29th, 2015

We seem to keep getting great news coverage.  This week there’s an article in the Messenger, not about Urban Forage, but about the ReciproCITY Food Forest proposed for the flooded Hiawatha golf course site. We’ve pledged 100 fruit trees to the project to help it get off the ground and this information made it into […]

Almost there!

By Jeff on Friday, November 27th, 2015

The basement of our building is finally starting to look like a winery! We’ve been actively working on it since July, and are finally in a place where we are happy to post pictures.  The two above were taken on Tuesday just before our inspection by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.  The inspection went […]

Learn about foraging at the Casket Cinema

By Jeff on Thursday, October 8th, 2015

Jeff will be a panelist following the showing of “Just Eat It” a documentary about food waste in the US.  See the details and a preview of the movie (much more interesting than it sounds) below. I’ll be talking about food waste after the film, and about how we’re capturing apples before they fall on […]

Hear the MPR story about Urban Forage here!

By Jeff on Wednesday, September 30th, 2015

Thank you Minnesota Public Radio and Britta Greene! We loved the article. It really captured what we’re all about. Link to story

Listen to MPR this Wednesday- we’re on!

By Jeff on Tuesday, September 29th, 2015

We’ll be on Morning Edition Wednesday morning at least twice between 5 and 9 AM!  We were interviewed by an MPR reporter, then brought her with us on a foraging run in our St. Paul neighborhood.  I will post a link once it goes live.   It’s great to be catching the attention of so […]

The Growler has covered us- we have arrived!

By Jeff on Wednesday, September 9th, 2015

As you may know, the Growler is the magazine that covers the boom in Minnesota breweries, and which is also now starting to report on the growing number of distilleries and cideries. We’re happy to report that we were included in this month’s “Now open or damn close” column which has confirmed for many skeptics […]

Our moment in the spotlight

By Jeff on Thursday, March 5th, 2015

We had our chance to testify last night in front of the Minnesota House of Representatives Commerce Committee.  In my opinion, we knocked it out of the park! Gita and I (that is, Jeff) testified as well as Fridley-based winemaker Emiro Sangiovanni, Minneapolis-based cider maker Tim Burman and surprise testifier Luke Zak who also aspires […]
