By Jeff Zeitler on Tuesday, August 30th, 2016

We will be OPEN on Thursday Sept 1 from 4-8 PM and on our normal hours Friday Sept 2, 4-8 PM. We will be CLOSED on Saturday the 3rd, as we expect most of you, as reasonable Minnesotans, will have left town at that point, and we plan to do so as well. We do […]

Our new Urban Forage t-shirts just arrived from the printer, and we can’t wait to get them out to you.  They will be available for the first time at East Lake Open Streets, this Sunday, at our tent starting at 11 AM.   They’re cool, comfortable and stylish shirts by American Apparel.  You’re almost guaranteed […]

Sketch of Jeff by Anita White. By the way- if you are wondering- YES- we are open our normal hours this weekend. Friday 4-8 PM and Saturday 12-4 PM. Pick up an all-American (and all-Minnesotan and mostly-Minneapolitan) bottle of dry cider (crisp!) semisweet cider (sparkly!) or pear cider (unique!) for your 4th of July festivities. […]

Thanks for making our cider, wine and cheese pairing night a success!

By Jeff Zeitler on Friday, June 24th, 2016

Thanks to all of the 41 good people who came to our wine, cider and cheese pairing event last night!  We had a lot of fun, and it sounds like you did too. Thank you to Matthew Hardy for providing the music and to Anita White for the art installation.  We’re looking forward to having […]

New hours- Friday 4-8, Saturday 12-4

By Jeff Zeitler on Friday, June 17th, 2016

You asked for them- we’ve provided.  While we’re trying not to change our hours too much, in five months of running the bottle shop in front of the building, we’ve noticed some trends.  There tends to be a rush of business in the late afternoon and early evening on Fridays, and early afternoon on Saturdays.  […]

Where can you buy our cider when the shop isn’t open?

By Jeff Zeitler on Tuesday, May 24th, 2016

Well I’m glad you asked! Now that Bernick’s is distributing our semisweet hard cider, you can buy it from someone other than -me- and somewhere other than the front of our building. So far it’s only available in South and Northeast Minneapolis, western St. Paul and White Bear Lake, but we expect that more locations […]

Skip the florist this year

By Jeff Zeitler on Wednesday, May 4th, 2016

Pick up a bottle of cherry-apple or pear cider for Mom- she’ll probably like it more than flowers. We’ll be open Friday and Saturday from 2-6 PM, and we’ll even give you a discount if you buy three bottles. Now you really have no excuse.

New brite tank on site now- distribution coming soon

Cherry Apple Cider

By Jeff Zeitler on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016

If you’re a fan of shiny brewing equipment, you’ll be excited to hear that we had a brite tank shipped from Portland and delivered to our building this week!  We received a 500 liter tank from Stout Tanks and Kettles and members of the Longfellow Homebrew Club helped get it into the building.  We’ll be […]

Our cider is green! Open for St. Pat’s day 2-6 PM

By Jeff Zeitler on Wednesday, March 16th, 2016

No it’s not literally green, as in a product with FD&C food coloring added. It’s green in the sense that we made it sustainably, without chemicals, or with just the bare minimum to keep it fresh when we bottle it. And now- we are selling it on Saint Patrick’s Day!  As you may know- cider, […]

CSA pickups: 3rd and 4th Fridays of the month

By Jeff Zeitler on Thursday, February 25th, 2016

Hi to everyone, especially to those who backed us at the CSA level during our kickstarter campaign.  There are almost 100 of you, so it took us a bit of time to have the inventory and the level of organization to be able to fulfill the terms of the CSA- which include a bottle of […]

Our ciders– naturally gluten-free

Cider Bottles

By Jeff Zeitler on Sunday, January 31st, 2016

We’ve been heartened and slightly surprised by the demand for our semisweet cider and cherry apple cider in the last couple of days.  We’re glad the neighborhood has embraced us to the degree that it has, and hope to be good neighbors in return! We had a great night out at a new(ish) Seward restaurant […]

By Jeff Zeitler on Sunday, December 13th, 2015

We are good to go! Production starts December 17th, and we expect to have a product to sell within a few weeks! I’ll post more details here when we have them. For now- I’ll just say that we’re clear to make wine, cider and mead and sell it on site!

Shout out in the latest Longfellow Nokomis Messenger

By Jeff Zeitler on Sunday, November 29th, 2015

We seem to keep getting great news coverage.  This week there’s an article in the Messenger, not about Urban Forage, but about the ReciproCITY Food Forest proposed for the flooded Hiawatha golf course site. We’ve pledged 100 fruit trees to the project to help it get off the ground and this information made it into […]

Almost there!

By Jeff on Friday, November 27th, 2015

The basement of our building is finally starting to look like a winery! We’ve been actively working on it since July, and are finally in a place where we are happy to post pictures.  The two above were taken on Tuesday just before our inspection by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.  The inspection went […]

Learn about foraging at the Casket Cinema

By Jeff on Thursday, October 8th, 2015

Jeff will be a panelist following the showing of “Just Eat It” a documentary about food waste in the US.  See the details and a preview of the movie (much more interesting than it sounds) below. I’ll be talking about food waste after the film, and about how we’re capturing apples before they fall on […]
